It’s amazing to see the passion for wakeboarding, wakesurfing and waterskiing the German community has. Eat Play Love is a great example of what watersports events should be, incorporating various aspects such as music, wakeboarding and food trucks to create an event for everyone to enjoy.

In the warm Westphalia summer, the European watersports community convenes for Europe’s largest water sports festival – Eat Play Love. Located in Cologne, Germany, Eat Play Love took place for its third year on the Fühlinger See and aims to bring together wakeboarding, food trucks and music in a 2 day festival.

“It’s amazing to see the passion for wakeboarding, wakesurfing and waterskiing the German community has. Eat Play Love is a great example of what watersports events should be, incorporating various aspects such as music, wakeboarding and food trucks to create an event for everyone to enjoy” said Malibu Boats Global Marketing Manager Bryant Thomas.

Part of Malibu’s commitment to wakeboarding and wakesurfing in Europe is the sponsorship of the German National Wakeboard Team with help from our German dealer Marius Boats. On the water, the Malibu 22 MXZ from Marius Boats provided perfect wakes for wakeboarders of all ability ranges and ages. Girls, boys, women and Juniors were first off the dock as part of the German Nationals, followed by the open division with appearances from pros from around the world including Malibu’s Raph Derome. Malibu was not only represented by Raph, but also by Malibu Boats UK riders Travis Beaton and Katie Batchelor competing in the junior and women’s categories respectively.

The weekend saw wonderful weather which brought out thousands of spectators, families and friends who were able to enjoy the various DJs and food trucks on site throughout Saturday and Sunday while watching the action on the water. In the amateur ranks, Travis narrowly missed out on the junior podium settling for 4th place, while Katie secured the top spot for the women. At the end of the weekend it all came down to the open men’s division finals and the Nissan “Best Combo Invitational.” All eyes were on Raph Derome who secured the top spot of both podiums with multiple spins, technical inverts and stylish grabs behind the 22 MXZ.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the dates for Eat Play Love 2019. You will not want to miss it!
